Why We Partner with St. Jude

Tue, February 5, 2019

It’s no secret that we love St. Jude {like, we REALLY love St. Jude!}. Throughout our 18-year partnership with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®, we’ve had the privilege of acquiring quite a bit of knowledge about the workings of the hospital and its attention to the patients through visiting the hospital, going on the tours, and working with our partner team. We can’t tell you enough great things about what St. Jude does, but here are a few highlights to help shed a light on what a special place it is:

  • The entire patient experience at the hospital is thoughtfully strategized and planned to the utmost detail to make it the best experience it can possibly be - from lowering the countertops at the welcome desk to a child’s height, to transporting patients in a classic red wagon to and from appointments, to throwing a “No Mo Chemo” party complete with friends, cake, and confetti, and everything in between, the staff at St. Jude considers a patient’s feelings from start to end.
  • Families NEVER receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food – because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.
  • Once a child becomes a patient of St. Jude, they’re a patient for life.
  • Aside from alleviating the financial burdens from families, their tireless dedication to children’s health and the incredible treatments they’ve invented have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20% to more than 80% since their opening over than 50 years ago. But they aren’t stopping there, with goals to drive the overall survival rate for childhood cancer to 90% and refusing to stop until no child dies from cancer.

As Coton Colors Fouding Artist and CEO, Laura Johnson noted, “Working with St. Jude is something near and dear to my heart. Our partnership, which has evolved into a great friendship, has grown over the years and has become an integral part of our company, and something that makes me very proud.”
