A Johnson family favorite, Laura’s sister Marcie regularly tosses this richly flavored dressing.
- ¼ cup water
- ½ cup Balsamic vinegar
- 1 ¼ cup olive oil
- Pinch of Dijon mustard
- Pinch of salt
Place mustard and salt in a bowl. Whisk in water, vinegar and olive oil.
A balanced blend of sweet and salty, perfect for cabbage or spinach salads.
- 1/3 cup olive oil
- 3 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- 2 teaspoons soy sauce
- 2 teaspoons honey
- ½ teaspoon freshly zested ginger root (preferred) or pinch of dried ginger
Combine all ingredients in a small jar. Cover with a lid and shake vigorously. Can also be mixed in a blender or small food processor.
Tangy and sweet, this dressing is perfect for salads with fruit. Try strawberries or raspberries for a balanced meets sweet dish.
- ½ cup white sugar
- 2 teaspoons minced onion
- ¼ cup white wine vinegar
- ¼ cup apple cider vinegar
- ½ cup vegetable oil
- 1 tablespoon poppy seeds
In a blender or food processor, combine sugar, vinegar, salt and onion. Process for 20 seconds. With blender or food processor on high, gradually add oil in a slow, steady stream. Stir in poppy seeds.

- ½ cup olive oil
- 1/3 cup seasoned rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon lime juice
- ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
- Pinch of cayenne pepper
- Salt and pepper to taste
In a medium bowl, whisk together vinegar, garlic powder, cayenne pepper and lime juice. While whisking constantly, add oil in a slow, steady stream until combined. Season with salt and pepper.
Easy, flavorful and fabulous, this simple vinaigrette offers
- 2 tablespoons red-wine vinegar
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- 1 small garlic clove, minced
- 1/3 cup extra virgin olive oil
- Coarse salt and ground pepper
Whisk the vinegar, mustard, garlic, salt and pepper together in a small bowl. Whisking constantly, add the oil in a slow, steady stream and continue whisking until thickened.
