Kyle on: Lemonade Party

Fri, May 8, 2015

What’s better on a sunny spring day than an excuse to be outdoors with with your best girlfriends… not much. So I threw a grown up lemonade party {inspired by our favorite new limited edition lemonade attachment} and invited all my crew to come over. Our favorite part? A yummy limoncello cocktail I whipped together that is so good it will make your lips pucker! Even better? It only requires four ingredients you probably already have on hand. Fancy it up with garnishes from the garden {or the grocery} like mint, blueberries, rosemary and a touch of honey for some extra sweetness. Cheers to another everyday celebration!

  • 12 lemons
  • 1 bottle of vodka (750 ml)
  • 3 ½ cups water
  • 2 ½ cups sugar

Using a vegetable peeler, remove the peel from the lemons in long strips and reserve. Make sure to only separate the yellow part of the peel from the fruit, and not go too deep. Place the lemon peels in a 2-quart pitcher. Pour the vodka over the peels and cover with plastic wrap. Steep the lemon peels in the vodka for 4 days at room temperature.

Stir the water and sugar in a large saucepan over medium heat until the sugar dissolves, about 5 minutes. Cool completely. Pour the sugar syrup over the vodka mixture. Cover and let stand at room temperature overnight. Strain the limoncello through a mesh strainer. Discard the peels. Transfer the limoncello to bottles. Seal the bottles and refrigerate until cold, at least 4 hours.
