Kyle on: Choosing a wedding date

Tue, December 22, 2015

“Why NYE?!” I have been asked this question a LOT over the past 5 months of my engagement and my answer has always been…Why NOT?!

When Warren popped the question in July, we were about to leave for our annual family trip to the Abacos. It was so much fun sitting knee deep in the water and brainstorming about wedding details, and I remember thinking that one thing that had unlimited opportunities was the wedding date! Only after the wheels touched back down in Tallahassee and vacation was over did the real wedding planning begin, and the reality of the available…or unavailable…dates set in. For various reasons such as our crazy work schedules, January shows, and Lent, the date kept getting pushed up further and further. Since we knew we were up against a shorter planning window, we immediately thought well in that case, let’s do New Year’s Eve! So the date was chosen - December 31, 2015. While it would be a little bit quicker planning and preparing a timeline, what better day to CELEBRATE something as special getting married than New Years Eve?

Wedding planning has been one of the most fun projects I’ve ever worked on…I think I’ll actually miss it! I really could not have done it without our amazing wedding coordinator, my mom’s creativity to bounce ideas back and forth, and my Happy Everything Agenda to keep list-making simple, milestones organized, and deadlines easy to follow. It has seriously kept me sane and on track. Wedding week is almost here and I couldn’t be more excited. I’ve planned the week out and this is how it’s looking…
