Homemade Dog Treats

Thu, April 11, 2019

It's no secret we are a little obsessed with our pets. We never shy away from pulling out our phones to exchange pics and we're are always equipped with their latest funny story. {Not to mention we like to dedicate entire blog posts to them.} So it's no surprise to anyone that we like to spoil them every now and then with new gear or special goodies - and there's no better gift than a homemade treat. Follow this oh-so-simple dog treat recipe to have tails waggin' in no time.

  • 2/3 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1/4 cup peanut butter
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3 cups whole wheat flour

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Mix pumpkin puree, peanut butter, and eggs in a bowl. Gradually add flour until the dough is no longer sticky.
  • Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface about 3 to 4 times and then roll the dough to 1/4-inch thickness.
  • Cut out dough using cookie cutters and place onto a prepared baking sheet.
  • Place treats into the pre-heated oven and bake until the edges are golden brown, about 20-25 minutes. Leave them in longer for a crunchier texture, if your dog prefers that.
  • Once ready, let them cool completely before passing them out to the pups.
  • For storage, keep in an air-tight container, like our Color Block Dog Bone Canisters. They will have about a week-long shelf life.
