Guest Blog: Amy’s Party Ideas

Mon, August 29, 2016

Hey y’all! It’s Amy from Amy’s Party Ideas and we are fast approaching my favorite time of year where Saturdays down South mean football, friends, food and fun! I am thrilled to partner with Coton Colors to share some of my favorite football weekend dinner ideas that are always a hit with my crowd.

1.Keep your menu simple.

When football weekends roll around, I would much rather spend time enjoying guests who are coming in for the games than over a stove getting dinner ready. Chili is my go-to meal to serve a crowd, and a chili bar is always a hit where guests can choose their toppings. I served up White Chicken Chili in my Happy Everything! Big Bowl adorned with my Big Football Attachment. This bowl holds plenty of chili for everyone and all of the toppings fit perfectly in their appetizer bowls.

A great complement to the chili is a fresh peach, tomato, and arugula salad with a Citrus Vinaigrette. Add some fresh sourdough bread for dipping into the chili and your menu is complete!

2.Have fun with dessert!

Serve up football cookies with mad faces, sad faces, and happy faces. Have fun anticipating the outcome of the upcoming game. For another fun dessert, try making some Persian Lime Pie in a jar. Such a cool and refreshing treat as summer fades into fall! And it helps that the chef is my neighbor, so she always whips up something wonderful!

3.Set the table and enjoy your friends.

I recently built an 8’ farm table, so we have plenty of room around the table for us all to gather. Take the time to set your table and bring all the food out to serve it family style. This way you can enjoy each other instead of running back and forth to the kitchen to keep the food coming.

Each place setting can be simple but elegant by layering dinner plates with monogrammed napkins and topping it with a beautiful bowl for your chili.

Supermarket flowers make for a simple but beautiful arrangement for your table. I used a blend of greenery and one hydrangea cutting. I just love what fresh flowers do for a table.

I hope you get some fun and easy ideas for your next football gathering! Remember to enjoy your friends, share a good meal, put your game day gear on and cheer on your favorite team! Cheers, Amy.
