Decorate for Halloween with Sweet Treats + Free Printables

Fri, October 12, 2012

As Halloween approaches, it’s easy to get caught up in costumes, class parties and pumpkin carving to name a few. So to keep decorating simple and stylish/ simply scary this year, we recommend sweet treats. Halloween candies are colorful, affordable, readily available {and conveniently} delicious to decorate with.

Fall’s candy palette is diverse, so pick playful colors. Think red and black for pirate or vampire parties and purple and green for hair-raising haunts or Frankenstein frights.

Of course we love the classics…Candy corns, color-coated candies and jelly beans are perfect for adding seasonal touches. Other devilishly delicious options include candy eye-balls, rock-candy, gum balls and licorice.

Simply pour candy into the bottom of mason jars, vases or tea lights. Almost any glass vessel will work, so get creative! Add a little candy, or a lot to create a unique look. Try layering by color or by candy type to make spellbinding stripes. Then anchor pillar candles in the candy to set the mood.

If you’re worried about the kids, try LED candles and avoid the burn but keep the ambiance. Light the night with spooktacular style!

Don’t let leftover candies go to waste. Create yummy treat bags kids of all ages will love. Let them do double-duty as goodie bags for trick-or-treaters or party favors for guests.

Download our free treat bag toppers for an easy DIY Halloween goodie bag. All you’ll need is ziploc baggies in snack size or regular size {depending upon the size of your goodies} and a few sheets of cardstock.  Print our terror-ific templates with your home printer on cardstock, trim them to size, fold in half over the top of a filled ziploc bag, and simply staple on each side.
