Create a Collegiate Care Package

Wed, September 19, 2012

As another school year begins, I am still an FSU mother. Although one of my girls graduated last spring {congrats again Kyle}, my middle child started at Florida State this fall. Even though FSU is in Tallahassee and my children have not really gone “off” to college, I still like to send them little care packages every now and then to let them know how proud I am of their academic accomplishments. Here are a few things I like to include in my ‘Collegiate Care Packages’…

Study Snacks - I love to send my girls baked goodies to enjoy while studying or to share with their friends. If they don’t get gobbled up at study hall, they can always become tailgate treats too! One of my favorites to send are the Browned Butter Brownies from The Happy Everything Cookbook.

Meals from Mom - Another favorite ingredient of a creative care package are The Happy Everything Cookbook {so that on the rare occasion that they actually cook, they’ll know how to make things they love from home!}.

Recipe Cards

Fantastic Frames - What dorm room is complete without a spirited frame displaying a great family photo? College students sometimes need to be reminded of what their families look like since they don’t make it home very often. A fun frame in their school colors is a great way to let them know you care.

Meaningful Message Boards - Finally I like to be sure my girls are good and organized when they’re not under my roof, so a cute message board is a must. That way, they can keep track of important papers, post invitations for reminders and display their favorite pictures too. The bonus with the Black Dot Message Board is that they can also change the Attachment as the seasons change and add some seasonal flair to drab dorm rooms.

Since my girls are in Tallahassee with me, I don’t have to worry too much about shipping my care packages. It’s great to have an excuse to stop by and visit them on campus and see what they’re really up to. For those of you who have to contend with shipping care packages to your kids at colleges that aren’t in your backyard, we’re giving YOU a little care package - FREE SHIPPING on any orders of $25 or more {just use promo code EMAILSHIP25 at checkout} .  Go ahead and send them a goodie, let them know that they’re never too old for some snail mail from Mom.
