3 Ways To Organize Your Life
We’ve all been there. Waking up to the alarm you’ve snoozed for the third time this morning and instantly realizing you are already behind on the laundry, the grocery shopping and the meal planning for the week. Your mind races to your work to-do list, and now you are officially overwhelmed. All this before you have even had your first sip of coffee.
Welcome to the no-judgment zone. The place where we know exactly how you feel. We want to help you overcome this constant feeling of an unorganized life. Through many battles of trial and error, we have come up with the 3 best ways to tackle creating a more organized life that helps you feel accomplished and fulfilled.
Get An Agenda
This may sound like a “DUH” thing, but honestly it makes all the difference. When you first get your new agenda to kick start the year, go ahead and write down all the important dates you definitely don’t want to forget and won’t be changing anytime soon (i.e. birthdays, anniversaries, holidays). This will help you in the long run, so you are only planning your month and weeks instead of always having to remember big important dates.
Next, utilize your monthly view in your agenda to give yourself a quick snapshot of the BIG events happening. Use stickers or abbreviations to help mark those occasions for a fun and eye catching way to remember those dates.
Then, utilize your weekly view to get down to the nitty-gritty. We like to go ahead and plan a month in advance and write down everything we know for that month in the weekly pages with times and locations. Then, we start each Monday of the new week off by looking at the upcoming week and making any adjustments as needed. By looking at our agenda weekly we are able to stay on top of our tasks and important dates in a snap. Because we all know our brain is still on weekend mode, we will be glad our past self was so on top of things come Monday.
Make A Daily To-Do List
Trust us on this one. It makes all the difference. Making a daily to-do list lets you accomplish two things. 1.) You can do a brain dump of all the things you want to tackle that day. Writing things down allows your brain to take a break, while you are still are on top of what you need to accomplish. 2.) How great does it feel to cross things off a list?! You can now celebrate the little wins in life like unloading the dishwasher or taking the dog on a walk. Simple daily tasks can feel like mountains if you are trying to remember them all. Plus, you can use the Happy Notes section in your new Happy Everything!™ Agenda to keep track of not only your calendar but your to-do list as well!
Create a Playlist
This is one of the most fun ways we know of to keep our life organized. We create a playlist for the day of 5 songs we just can’t seem to get enough of at the moment. Press play and start tackling the not so fun chores. Whether it’s cleaning the bathroom, putting away laundry or taking out the garbage. These are the tasks that you typically dread and put off to the last minute, and they constantly loom over your head. Having a fun playlist going while you are doing things you don’t typically enjoy will help you tackle little tasks daily that can end up turning into an overwhelming amount of tasks at once. The best news is that once the playlist ends, you stop! Whatever you don’t get done during that playlist can move to the next day. Or now that you feel motivated you can start it over and keep going until you feel like the job is done.
Learning how to become organized can be fun and easy. Getting the right tools and understanding what works for you is the most important step. Don’t be discouraged along the way, there is always a space in your agenda for a happy quote of encouragement.
